The Lomi Lomi Nui massage was originally connected to a sacred dance in Hawaii, which is why it’s also known as the temple dance massage.
It was used to prepare individuals for a new beginning in life, as it is a cleansing ritual designed to release burdensome energies.
Lomi Lomi is passed down and practiced slightly differently from island to island.
I was blessed to learn the ANELA Lomi Lomi Nui, which originates from Maui.
It is smooth, playful, and powerful — a massage that can unfold over several hours. Through gentle, mindful touch, healing takes place, as inner wounds are lovingly guided back into healing love.
This happens without words — purely through the attentive and compassionate contact with the body.
Our bodies store old emotional experiences — especially in areas like the hips, fingers, back, and shoulders.
In meditative presence, the massage intuitively focuses on the areas that need the most attention, gently sweeping out negative energy through the fingertips, hair ends, and soles of the feet.
